Suitable for:
Prisoners with very serious offences, assessed as high/very high risk on OASys and with an actual or suspected diagnosis of a severe personality disorder. Indeterminate sentenced prisoners (Life/IPP) are prioritised.
Offer:
Assessment and treatment for individuals who are at high risk of high harm reoffending due to a severe personality disorder. There is a 20 week assessment period which includes a full assessment of personality, assessment of treatment needs and planned intervention. Treatment includes both individual and group work and lasts approximately 3 years.

Referral
Referral Process
Referrals can be made by probation services and should be completed at the earliest opportunity post sentence. A full OAYS screen is required and there should be a discussion with your line manager. Once agreed by your line manger please contact the unit by telephone to discuss the referral. Once the referral has been agreed with the unit the referral form should be complete. The offender must be informed of the referral. The referral will be discussed by the multi-professional team. If the referral is accepted a member of the DSPD unit will visit the offender at their current location. If accepted they will be transferred for assessment which can take up to 20 weeks. Treatment lasts approximately 3years. If not accepted the individual will be returned to their previous location with a full assessment and risk management plan.
