Referral Process

Referrals can be made by probation services and should be completed at the earliest opportunity post sentence. A full OAYS screen is required and there should be a discussion with your line manager. The offender must be informed of the referral. The referral will be discussed by the multi-professional team. If the referral is accepted a member of the DSPD unit will visit the offender at their current location. If accepted they will be transferred for assessment which can take up to 20 weeks. Treatment lasts approximately 3years. If not accepted the individual will be returned to their previous location with a full assessment and risk management plan.
